Public transport services & infrastructure activity classes – overview

 

Introduction

This section provides information, processes and procedures to assist Approved Organisations in developing public transport activities.

 

This page relates to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied only.

Which activity class?

There are two activity classes as described below.

 

Note - Roading public transport infrastructure is incorporated in the appropriate Approved Organisation's roading programme.

 

To qualify for NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied consideration

To qualify for investment support from the NZTA:

  • Any activity described in the work categories in this section may qualify for consideration for inclusion in the NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied .
  • Bus, rail and ferry services must be included in a Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP A plan which specifies how the regional council intends to give effect to the public transport service components of the regional land transport plan that applies to the region. As of June 2013, the contents and management of the plan is defined by Part 5 of the Land Transport Management Act 2003. ), which incorporates:
    • a funding plan
    • all bus, rail and ferry passenger services, and
    • the supporting infrastructure and operational activities proposed over the period of the National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities.   • All public transport activities requiring funding assistance must be included in a Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP A regional land transport plan, prepared under Part 2 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied. ),
  • Approved Organisations must comply with the NZTA's Procurement The purchase of works, goods or services. Manual and procurement rules, as well as any relevant standards and guidelines as listed in the NZTA's Register of Network Standards and Guidelines.
