Work category 524: Public transport information supply, operations and maintenance

 

Introduction

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
provides for off-vehicle management, operations and maintenance (including like for like replacement) costs for the information provision and related functions that support the delivery of bus, passenger ferry and passenger rail public transport services.

 

This definition applies to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied .  For the 2015-18 NLTP please refer to the updated definition for work category 524.

 

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • marketing and promotional activities including timetable information and displays
  • operation of call centres
  • operations and maintenance of real time information systems and ticketing systems including management and analysis of the data generated by electronic ticketing and real time information systems
  • preparation and production of reports including user satisfaction surveys related to public transport for the information of government or the public
  • loan repayments where agreed by the NZTA.

 

Other potential activities that are not in the above list should be discussed with the NZTA for eligibility.

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate is:

  • 60% of the Approved Organisation’s expenditure for 2009-12, reducing to 50% over 10 years (i.e. 59% for 2012/13, 58% for 2013/14, 57% for 2014/15, etc) - reducing by 1% per annum until the base level of 50% is reached
  • Approved commitments in the 2009-12 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied that extend beyond 30 June 2012 continue at the previously approved rate of 60%.
