Work category 112: Unsealed pavement maintenance

Introduction

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements provides for the routine care of unsealed pavements to maintain their structural integrity and serviceability.

This definition applies to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied .  For the 2015-18 NLTP please refer to the updated definition for work category 112.

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

• grading
• flanking The removal of excess material, between the shoulder That portion of the carriageway outside the traffic lanes. and water channel, which is inhibiting drainage.
• spot metalling and pothole A hole in the pavement, frequently rounded in shape and greater than 70 mm in diameter, resulting from loss of pavement material. repair
• restoration of the correct camber
• maintenance of the running course A thin layer of loose stone that protects the basecourse of an unsealed road. .

Other potential activities that are not in the above list should be discussed with the NZTA for eligibility.

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate is:

• the Approved Organisation’s base rate
• the Approved Organisation’s special purpose roads rate, and
• 100 percent for the NZTA (state highways).
