Introduction |
The NZTA (state highways) State Highway Plan (SH Plan) is produced annually via a specified planning process.
The SH Plan forms the base for the NZTA (state highways) to develop and vary its national programme, to inform and vary Regional Land Transport Plans Plans describe the tactics to give effect to a strategy. They are specific in content, action oriented and outputs focussed, resulting in a tangible set of activities to be delivered within a clear timeframe. New projects, plans and strategies in the SH Plan need to be assessed against the NZTA’s Assessment Framework and prioritised against other activities in the same activity class.
The SH Plan is compiled from a list of prioritised activities, both existing and new. The annual planning process is described in detail in the NZTA’s Annual Plan Instructions Manual (SMO18) - NZTA staff only.
The manual is updated as required for changes in direction signaled by national strategy and planning documents e.g. the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport Funding, the NZTA’s Investment and Revenue Strategy and the NZTA’s State Highway Asset Management Plan Refer to Activity Management Plan.
