Work category 711: Road Policing

Introduction
This page relates to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied only.

This section sets out the information about activities invested in through the Road Policing Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. which is prepared by the NZTA, approved by the Minister of Transport and delivered by NZ Police The police of New Zealand within the meaning of the Police Act 1958. . The Road Policing Programme is funded through Vote Police but the investment source is the National Land Transport Fund. See sections 18I to s18M of the Land Transport Management Act.

 

Police activities Activities, approved by the Minister of Transport in conjunction with the Minister of Police The police of New Zealand within the meaning of the Police Act 1958. , paid from the National Land Transport Fund, to be delivered by the police. approved by the Minister must be included in the National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. The NZTA monitors and reports on delivery of the programme, as stated in section 102 of the Land Transport Management Act 2003.

Activities within this work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
in the main contribute to road safety, but also to economic growth and productivity, and are:

  • Traffic management
  • High risk drivers
  • Young drivers
  • Motorcycling
  • Alcohol/drug impaired driving
  • Speed
  • Restraints
  • Heavy vehicle fleet
  • Crash attendance and reporting
  • Roads and roadsides
  • Light vehicle fleet
  • Walking and cycling
  • Fatigue and distraction
  • Older road users.

 

Exclusions

Exclusions include:

 

  • Regulatory activities delivered by other agencies.

 

 

Funding

Road policing activities are funded through Vote Police The police of New Zealand within the meaning of the Police Act 1958. but the investment source is the National Land Transport Fund.
