Work category 517: Total mobility operations

 

Introduction

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
provides for door to door subsidised taxi or specialist transport provider trips for people with disabilities, including administration The components of activities that are reasonably provided in administering the delivery of land transport-related activities. , maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment associated with the Total Mobility scheme The scheme to assist eligible people with impairments to access appropriate transport to enhance their community participation. Assistance is provided in the form of subsidised door-to-door transport services. .

 

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • contracting and management of Total Mobility agencies, and operators,
  • registration, assessment, allocation of vouchers and management of scheme members,
  • management of data based systems used to assist the operation of the total mobility scheme,
  • the operation of community transport schemes where the users of the service are people who would be eligible for the Total Mobility scheme The scheme to assist eligible people with impairments to access appropriate transport to enhance their community participation. Assistance is provided in the form of subsidised door-to-door transport services. .

Other potential activities that are not in the above list of examples should be discussed with the Transport Agency for eligibility.

Funding assistance rate (FAR The usual contribution in percentage terms, that the NZTA augments funding of an approved organisation, for the delivery of an activity or combination of activities. )

The usual funding assistance rate is dependent on whether  the Approved Organisation is signed up to the scheme and the phase being implemented, and is:

  • 60% for Approved Organisations signed up to and implementing Phase 2
  • 50% for Approved Organisations signed up to and implementing Phase 1
  • 40% for Approved Organisations not signed up to either Phase 1 or 2 of the scheme

Applying for funding approval

Applications for funding approval should be made through the Public transport existing services module in Transport Investment Online (TIO The NZTA's web-based funding allocation system. ).
