Work category 111: Sealed pavement maintenance

 

Introduction

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
provides for the routine care of sealed pavements to maintain their structural integrity and serviceability.

 

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • pavement The road structure that is constructed on the subgrade and supports the traffic loading. dig-outs, patching and pothole A hole in the pavement, frequently rounded in shape and greater than 70 mm in diameter, resulting from loss of pavement material. repairs
  • pre-reseal repairs
  • unsealed shoulder That portion of the carriageway outside the traffic lanes. maintenance on sealed roads
  • the Approved Organisation’s or the Transport Agency's (state highways) share of pavement The road structure that is constructed on the subgrade and supports the traffic loading. maintenance at railway level crossings together with any associated servicing fee
  • protective covering over the road where stock cross at grade, and
  • road protection against stock damage.

 

Other potential activities that are not in the above list should be discussed with the Transport Agency for eligibility.

Applying for funding approval

Applications for funding approval should be made through the Maintenance module in Transport Investment Online (TIO The NZTA's web-based funding allocation system. ).

 

Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. management

The management of the Maintenance programme is delegated to Approved Organisations and the Transport Agency (state highways), which includes the transfer of funding between work categories.
